Dear Brethren,
We had a great presentation on the Indiana Freemason Museum and Library by PGM Mike Brumback. For those who were not able to attend in person we did record it and it is on both of our Facebook pages as well as on the Indiana Freemasons page. If you have never had the opportunity to visit our Grand Lodge Museum and Library I highly encourage it. This presentation only scratched the surface of what you can see and find down there. Here is also a link to the presentation:

Coming up this Tuesday we will be having another 50 Year Award of Gold Ceremony for two well deserving Brothers (David Woods and Leonard Shirley). This is a significant milestone in the life of a Mason and I encourage all to attend to show support for these Brothers who have given 50 years of their lives to Masonry. Just think about that number 50 for a while. Many of us haven’t even been alive for 50 years or worked a job for that long or even been married 50 years. So to dedicate yourself to something for that long of a time period is incredible. Hope to see a great turnout.
As you all know, we were not able to have our Annual Fish Fry last year. WB Ron was working to revamp the Fish Fry and make it a Community Day Event. We are attempting to give that another shot again this year. WB Ron is the Chairmen for this event and he is in need of some extra help to make this a successful event. Attached to the end of this newsletter is message from WB Ron. Please read it over and respond to him about any questions you may have or if you are able to help out with this. We have our new Sponsorship Flyers also printed so be sure to stop by and pick a few up to take to your work or to businesses you frequent.
As everyone will recall, this year’s Master Mason class is dedicated to the memory of WB Mark Griffin. The rocks glasses commissioned to honor the memory of WB Mark Griffin are in and can be purchased from your officers. These glasses look incredible and are American made! The price for a single glass will be $10.00, two for $18.00 and a set of 4 will be $35.00. Make sure to get your glass(es) early to remember the life of such a dedicated Mason and Veteran.
Quote of the Week:
“True friendship is like sound health; the value of it is seldom known until it is lost.”
Charles Caleb Colton
Cleric
I think many of us can relate to this. We take so much for granted in our lives and don’t truly grasp all that we have until we no longer have it. This can be said for our Brotherhood as well. Many have been part of other Lodges that are no longer around anymore. They have closed their doors or merged in with other Lodges. I have had many Brothers who don’t come regularly tell me they miss being at Lodge and around their Masonic Brothers. What are you waiting for? Come on back and be a part of something bigger than yourselves and reconnect with your Brothers.

If anyone is planning to travel or visit another Lodge or has been asked to come assist with a degree, please reach out to me and let me know so we can get a few more Brothers to go and make a visit out of it. Below is the travel opportunities site I go to. If you see anything there that interests you make sure to let me know. This is also a great opportunity for Mentors to take their mentees to see some extra degree work to aid in their learning.
We are sitting at 10 different Lodges visited for a total of 590 round trip miles. We have completed the requirements for both of the Grand Lodge Travel Awards. That doesn’t mean we are going to stop traveling as I would like to see us go for some of the many traveling implements in the area and bring them home to Millersville. We will have a bit more upcoming travel soon as we will once again be going dark during July and August, however, we will need to keep our ritual game strong by traveling around and watching and being a part of degrees at other Lodges.

MESSAGE FROM COMMUNITY DAY CHAIRMAN
Hello Brethren:
As some of you may know, Worshipful Master Brian has asked me to chair our fundraiser (fish fry) this year which will be held Friday and Saturday, September 24th and 25th. Friday evening 4-8PM will be the typical fish fry dinner with seating inside or under the tent outside. On Saturday we hope to make Millersville Lodge a destination point for the community by having a Millersville Community Day from 10AM to 8PM. This will be a festival atmosphere with great food, open outdoor market, live music, children’s activities, and open house for our historic building. The event will be well promoted in the community. We are hoping for a wonderful day of celebration and unity, not just for the growth of our Lodge, but for the community at large as well.
That being said, please put these dates on your calendar and plan to commit for the year, at least these two days to your Lodge. Your participation and more importantly your assistance in making this a great event are most appreciated. This is way too much for just a few to pull off so the assistance of Brothers for a successful event is greatly needed in the following areas:
- Thursday afternoon/evening set-up.
- Tent Food Preparation –both days.
- Passing out sponsorship brochures – these will be available very soon.
- Parking – Mostly Sat.
- Open house guides – Sat.
- Millersville Lodge info table – Sat.
- Clean up – Sunday the 26th
- Help with Coordination of above areas.
I look forward receiving emails from the Brethren who are willing and able to help with this event in any of the above areas, so please contact there or call me. I will also have sign-up sheets at the Lodge for members to make their willingness to help known. Thank you, Brethren, and let’s have a great year.

Dear Brethren,
To all the Fathers out there I would like to wish you a very Happy Father’s Day. Whether your children are 2 or 4 legged or both, I hope you had a relaxing day filled with love and laughter and memories to cherish throughout your years. We had an excellent Degree last Tuesday and passed Brother Michael Redding to the Degree of a FellowCraft. It was another awesome turnout and we greatly appreciated the help in filling some chairs and covering the lectures for this degree. We truly are blessed here at Millersville to have so many knowledgeable Brothers able to assist when called upon. You really show what Masonry is all about.
This Tuesday we have another Masonic Education night. We will be having Past Grand Master Mike Brumback in attendance and he will be talking to us about the Indiana Masonic Museum and Library as well as Freemasons Hall. Be sure to mark your calendars and come out and pack the house on this evening and show some support for our Guest Speaker. I highly encourage all to attend and support the Lodge and our guest speaker on this night. I can tell you with only dinner and education that evening, you will be on your way home by 8:00pm at the latest and will be home before the sun goes down. We will be having Spaghetti for dinner and with our normal chef gone that evening, Brother Michael Clark has stepped up and volunteered to cook for us. So Guest Speaker and Guest Chef; hope to see a full house!
I know this is short notice in the newsletter but it was mentioned in announcements at dinner this past Tuesday. I along with a few other Brothers will be travelling to Hancock Lodge #101 on Monday, June 21 for a Master Mason Degree. Dinner will be at 6:00pm and Lodge is at 7:00pm. This travel will complete all our travel requirements for both Grand Lodge Travel Awards for the year, however, that does not mean we will stop travelling. After this we will be on the hunt for any traveling tools around the state and try to bring as many of them back to Millersville as possible. We will need a lot of Brothers willing to travel to make this happen as some of the traveling tools require up to 7 visiting Brothers in order to claim them.
Finally on the last Tuesday of the month we will be having another 50 Year Award of Gold Ceremony for two well deserving Brothers (David Woods and Leonard Shirley). This is a significant milestone in the life of a Mason and I encourage all to attend who can to show support for these Brothers who have given 50 years of their lives to Masonry.

Although President Jefferson was not a Mason, his words ring true. One of the reasons Religion and Politics are forbidden topics in Lodge is because they are two of the biggest dividers of men. Now more than ever do these topics illicit such nastiness and bitter words among men and cause such chaos. One only needs to look at social media to see evidences of that fact. We as Brothers need to rise above these petty issues and differences and embrace our Brothers. Choose your words carefully when posting on social media and understand that if a Brother disagrees with you it is ok. We all come from different backgrounds and walks of life and don’t all hold the exact same opinions on topics. It is ok to disagree in a civil manner and understand that at the end of the day, we are Brothers and are bound by a stronger bond.

Dear Brethren,
I want to start off by thanking everyone who came this Saturday for Seth’s Master Mason Degree and either took part in the degree or who were on the sidelines in support of the raising of this Brother. It certainly isn’t easy trying to put on a Saturday Degree during the summer months in the middle of the afternoon but we got it done. With the help of four other Lodges we were not only able to make the day a memorable one for our newest Master Mason but also for everyone who attended. We got to see first-hand Brotherly Love and Friendship in action as well as some really good degree work.
Coming up this Tuesday will be a FellowCraft Degree for Brother Michael Redding. Your Senior Warden has been doing a very good job with this Degree so make sure you come out and watch him in action and support the passing of this Brother to the degree of a FellowCraft. Then the Tuesday following that (June 22) we will have another Masonic Education night. We will be having Past Grand Master Mike Brumback in attendance and he will be talking to us about the Masonic Museum and Freemasons Hall. Be sure to mark your calendars and come out and pack the house on that evening and show some support for our Guest Speaker that evening.

Negative thoughts beget negative attitudes and outcomes. We must always strive to maintain a positive outlook on life and always put our best foot forward. We have to keep pushing ourselves and our fellow Brothers to keep moving towards the light. Focus on the things you have learned in Masonry and the friends you have made along the way. If we all strive to remain positive we can feed off each other and the Fraternity as a whole will be ready to move forward and tackle greater challenges.

Dear Brethren,
Well we had a nice Stated Meeting last Tuesday and a pretty decent turnout. They aren’t as much fun as putting on a degree but they are essential for us to get all the business things done. Coming up this Tuesday will be a Social Evening so come on out and have some dinner and then sit around and catch up with your fellow Brothers, play some cards in the Parlor, or head up to the 3rd floor for some pool.
Our next Degree will be for Brother Seth Meyer and will be a Saturday Degree Day (June 12th). This is an excellent time for all those who find themselves too busy to attend Lodge during the week to come to a weekend Degree. We really need all the help we can get from any and all of our ritualists on that day (pulling on Cable Tows here) and from the general membership in order to make this a lasting and memorable experience for our Brother. We will have Lunch at Noon and the Degree will follow at 1:00pm. Contact me if you are able to assist as I still have many spots to fill.

We have all made good choices and probably quite a few bad choices in our lives. Sometimes those bad choices nag at us as our conscience kicks in but the majority of us also learn from those bad choices as well. As this quote says, don’t let those bad choices lead you to feeling trapped. The experiences you gained as you learn from your mistakes can be not only valuable to yourself but to others around you. Turn those bad choices into positive learning experiences as you mentor and befriend you fellow brethren. You matter to not only yourself and your family but also to us here at Millersville Lodge.

Dear Brethren,
We had a great time last Tuesday celebrating our Lodge’s 169th Birthday as well as presenting 3 Awards of Gold to some very well deserving Brothers. Congratulations again to Brothers Robert Anderson, Philip Booher, and David Graf. Special thanks to WB Jerry Collins who conducted the Award of Gold Ceremony and presented them on behalf of the Grand Lodge of Indiana. He always did a great job with those and he did not disappoint this time either. We will be having another Award of Gold Ceremony towards the end of June so be sure to watch for that in case you missed this one. Coming up this Tuesday is our Stated Meeting so be sure to come on out and see what is happening on the business side of things at the Lodge. It typically is not a long night and I can guarantee you will be home before the sun sets.
Our next Degree will be for Brother Seth Meyer and will be a Saturday Degree Day (June 5th). More help is still needed to make this degree a success. Contact our Junior Warden if you can help with the Degree on that Saturday. Charles Moore (317-941-5358).

Being successful is great for yourself, but are you letting it stop there or are you adding value to those around you through your success? The following says it best. Through the Art of Freemasonry, the improvement and strengthening of the character of the individual man, Freemasonry seeks to improve the community. Thus, it impresses upon its members the principles of personal righteousness and personal responsibility, enlightens them as to those things which make for human welfare, and inspires them with that feeling of charity, or good will, toward all mankind which will move them to translate principle and conviction into action
